Crossville, TN - Wilma Jean Scott, 91, of Crossville, passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Society - Fairfield Glade on May 29, 2025.
Mrs. Scott was born on Dec. 8, 1933, in White County, TN, daughter of the late Atlee Neal "A.N." Brooks and Era Gladys (Shelton) Brooks.
Wilma Jean was a lifelong resident of Cumberland County and worked the switchboard at Cumberland Medical Center for nearly 36 years. She was also a lifelong member of the Church of God of Prophecy, most recently serving faithfully in the Stanley Street congregation.
Affectionately called "Granny," she is survived by her son, Ron (Carolyn) Scott, of Crossville; daughters, Freda (Wayne) Thompson and Pam (Eddie) Willis, all of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Chris (Susan) Thompson, Shea (David) Russell, Joshua (Kalithea) Scott, Jonathan (Ivy) Scott, and Scott Willis; great-grandchildren, Christopher Wilson, Brittany Gilbert, Samuel Thompson, Jeremiah Thompson, Sara Thompson, Mason Russell, Evan Russell and Astrian Scott; sister, Glinda Faye (Bill) Griffith, Lawrenceville, GA; brother-in-law, Kenneth McCormick, Sparta; niece, Elaine Durant; nephews, Steven Griffith, Ricky and Nicky Ballew; and a host of other friends and extended family, including 5 great-great-grandchildren, two great-nieces and two great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, Wilma Jean is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, James William "Bill" Scott; infant brother, James Robert Brooks; sister, Geraldine McCormick; stepmother, Magdalene "Maggie" Brooks; and baby great-granddaughter, Rose Russell.
Visitation will be held at Bilbrey Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Stanley Street Church of God of Prophecy on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at Crossville City Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service.
