Roy W. Turner
Roy W. Turner, 90, of Crossville, passed away Friday, Nov. 1, 2019, at Cumberland House.
He was born Feb. 10, 1929, in Crab Orchard, son of the late Charles Turner and Nora (Sherrill) Turner.
After Roy finished his schooling, he joined the Army. He served his country during World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam. He retired from the service in 1968, and went to work on the railroad. He then worked as a plumber until his retirement. Roy also was a member of the Crab Orchard Church of God of Prophesy.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Turner of Crossville; sons, Terry Turner (Lindy) of Blaine, TN, and Jerry W. Turner (Gina) of Crossville; daughters, Mary Webb of Soddy Daisy, Sherry Knox (Donnie) of Crossville, and Kerry Turner of Georgia; stepsons, Gary Welch of Crossville, Kirk Flowers (Maria) of Georgia and Jason Flowers (Tami) of North Carolina; stepdaughters, Sherrie Cox (Greg) of Crab Orchard and Paula Fizer of Georgia; step-daughter-in-law, Pam Flowers; and sister, Willene Stooksbury of Texas. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Roy is preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jo Parham Turner; stepson, James Flowers; granddaughter, Savannah Webb; stepson, James Flowers; brothers, Lester Turner and Joe Turner; and sisters, Marie Binnette and Jewelene Qualls.
Family requests memorials be made in honor of Roy to Hospice of Cumberland County.
Funeral services were held at Bilbrey Funeral Home on Monday, Nov. 4, at 10 a.m. with Bro. Jimmy Turner officiating. Interment in Haley's Grove Cemetery.
