Reta Maxine Sweat, 73, of Crossville, passed away Jan. 10, 2002. Funeral services were conducted Jan. 12 at Union Baptist Church in Wartburg, TN, with Dr. Larry Draper and the Rev. Roland Smith officiating. Mrs. Sweat was born Feb. 20, 1928, the daughter of Clifford and Mammie Johnson Wilson. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Verlin Sweat of Crossville; son, Verlin Sweat Jr. of Ellijay, GA; brother, Jack Dean Wilson of Oliver Springs, TN; sisters, Dorothy Jacks of Albany, GA, and Shirley Jones of Wartburg; grandchildren, Wendy Gagnon, Tara Russell, Ashley Sweat, Spencer Sweat and Chandler Sweat; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Sue Fudge; brother, Vernon Wilson; and children, Rita Louise Sweat, Varnell Sweat and Anna Anita Sweat.
