Nanetta Joyce (Ledbetter) Phipps

Nanetta Joyce (Ledbetter) Phipps of Mt. Juliet went to be with the Lord on June 19, 2019, at 4:10 a.m. after a long struggle with dementia. She was surrounded by her loving family as she breathed her last earthly breath.
Joyce was born in Overton County on Dec. 9, 1930. She met her husband, Earl Davis Phipps, in Crossville while she was on a date with Earl's best friend. They were married May 21, 1949. In May of 2019, they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Soon after marrying they moved to Detroit, MI, and then to Anderson, IN. In 1980 they moved to Moultrie, GA, where she worked as a machinist. After retiring Earl and Joyce returned to their hometown of Crossville. One more move was in store to Mt. Juliet, to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Earl Davis Phipps; son, Alan Dale Phipps; daughter-in-law, Janice Phipps; daughter, Sonia Dorer; son-in-law, Richard Dorer Jr.; grandchildren, Kellie Barron, Nikki Palmer and Charlie Dorer; several great-grandchildren; and brothers, Jesse Ledbetter and Julian Ledbetter.
Preceding her in death are sisters, Louise McCoy, Carolyn Lowhorn and Helen Hoover; brother, Lyle Ledbetter; grandsons, Matthew Loyd and Caleb Dorer.
Joyce will be remembered as a loving, kind soul, who loved the Lord and family and friends.
Family received friends on Saturday, June 22, at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services for Joyce were also held on Saturday following visitation with Mike McCoy officiating. She was laid to rest in Woody Cemetery.
"Remember me when I was happy and laughing; living life to the fullest. Don't be sorry that I am gone, but be happy I was here!"
Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.
