Minnie Abels Obituary

Dec. 9, 2014 Minnie Abels, 89 of Rockwood, passed away Dec. 9, 2014, at her residence. Mrs. Abels was of the Baptist faith. She retired from Kayser-Roth Hosiery in the packing department after 21 years of service. Minnie is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Lena Howard; husband, George (Bus) Abels; son, George W. Abels; grandson, Philip L. Abels; great-grandchild, Arianna Abels; sisters, Frances Rodgers, Bonnie Williams and Luvenia Buchannon; brothers, James (Jimbo) Howard and Jesse (Sambo) Howard. Survivors include daughter, Phyllis Abels Parker and husband, Osa, of Crossville; son, Henry Abels and wife, Midge, of Detroit, MI; daughters, Nina Abels Maupin and husband, Michael, of Rockwood, and Dina Abels Davis and husband, William Sr., of Ozone; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and daughter-in-law, Jeanie Abels of Crossville. Visitation services were held at Evans Mortuary, Rockwood, Dec. 11, from 6-8 p.m. EST. The funeral service followed in the Chapel of Evans Mortuary at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Hascue Carter and the Rev. Charles Kelley officiating. Graveside service and interment will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery, Rockwood, today, Dec. 12, at 2 p.m. Evans Mortuary is serving the family of Minnie Abels.
