Linda R. Brown Obituary

Crossville, TN - Linda Carole Robinette Brown entered this world on Dec. 10, 1942, in Appalachia, VA and departed to Heaven on June 11, 2026. She is the daughter of John Creed and Carmel Robinette now residing with Linda in Heaven. Her earthly span was for 83.5 years. She is a wonderful mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother, and daughter. Linda believes that all believers, who have left this world, still lives as Linda does. Most of all, she gave her own life to Jesus Christ when she was nine years old and never forgot she was a child of Christ on a daily basis. Upon marrying John Brown they both vowed to attend church and to always tithe and raise their children in the knowledge of Christ.

Linda is now waiting for her husband, John (Johnnie) Carlyle Brown whom she has been wedded to since Dec. 1, 1977 and have resided in Crossville since November 2004.

She has two sons, John Lowell Fairchild, (Rilla) of Christiana, TN, Martin Kelley Brown, (Cameron) of Lebanon, TN, and an infant daughter, Susan Carole Fairchild, now also residing with Linda in Heaven. She has three grandchildren, Ellen Shinkle (Jeremy); Thomas Fairchild (Hannah) and Joseph, and three great-grandchildren, children of Thomas and Hannah, Brooklyn, Kinsley, and Liam, and she has a sense of motherhood for the world.

Linda has many accomplishments in her life. She is a member of FCE, Marie Ervin, Gideon International Auxiliaries, Eastern Star, and the American Legion Auxiliaries. Linda graduated as Valedictorian, Appalachia High School, Class of 1961, Appalachia, VA, and graduated with highest honors from Tusculum University, Class of 1993, Greenville, TN. She was 51 years young when she accomplished this college milestone. She was a member and leader of many church activities at South Harriman Baptist Church, Harriman, TN, and First Methodist Church, Crossville, TN. Linda is a current member at Oak Hill Baptist Church in Crossville, TN.

Linda was an assistant coordinator of the National Science Foundation, authorizing grants to educators for research, while employed by the Oak Ridge Associated Universities, and a financial analyst for the same in Oak Ridge, TN. Prior to these work experiences she was the manager of the TVA John Sevier Credit Union in Rogersville, TN., and mainly, the raising of two wonderful boys. Linda is currently waiting for all who believe in Jesus Christ.

Celebration of life will be held at Oak Hill Baptist Church on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 11 a.m. (CDT). The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. (CDT) prior to the service. Rev. Dr. Jim Mersereau will officiate the service and Dr. Louis Davis will give a statement of Linda's devotion to the church for the past years.

Burial will be at the American Legion Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. (EDT) on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026, in Big Stone Gap, VA. This will be a brief and final farewell to Linda's physical remains.
