Crossville, TN - Joy Sue (Howard) Rose, 90, of Crossville, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025, at her home.

Mrs. Rose was born on June 16, 1934, in Crab Orchard, TN, daughter of the late Clyde Marvin Howard and Ina Eurica (Ellis) Howard.

Joy was a devoted and loving housewife, mother, and a faithful member of the First Christian Church of Crossville for many years. Of late, she attended Crab Orchard Christian Church. As an avid crafter, she enjoyed sewing, crochet, and quilting. Christmas was her favorite time of year and she would decorate her home with multiple trees and a massive Christmas village. One year she had seven Christmas trees decorated in the house. She and her faithful girlfriends were all enthusiastic fans of the Tennessee Volunteers, and they would all dress up for the games with their finest orange and white outfits. She and her husband Boyd loved dancing and attended many square dances over the years. Joy and Boyd enjoyed an active lifestyle and planned many activities together including four-wheeling. In her youth, she rode motorcycles in the woods. Joy, known for her kindness and sunny disposition, was a strong and vibrant Christian woman who spent many years as a volunteer working with the youth groups.

She is survived by her son, Marvin Boyd Rose; daughter-in-law, Diane Rose; granddaughter, Miranda Joy Goldsby; great grandchildren, Cora Joy Goldsby and Samuel Boyd Goldsby.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Kermit Boyd Rose; son, Gregory Duane Rose; big sister, Betty (Howard) Kington; and baby brother, Nathan Clyde Howard.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025. The family will receive friends at noon until services commence at 1p.m. Internment following the service in Haley Grove Cemetery, Crab Orchard. A reception will be held at Crab Orchard Christian Church after the burial service.
