Johnny R. Adams Obituary

Johnny R. Adams, 57, of Crossville, passed away at his home on Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 3, 1960, in Crossville, son of Charles B. Hatcher and Mary Ann (Adams) Tabor.

Johnny was a caring and loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He and his wife, Sandra, had a very special love for one another - true love. He loved being with family and friends. He never met anyone that he didn't enjoy being with or he with them.

He loved being outside and at home. He was a man who could fix anything - even a broken heart. He loved spending every day at home with his wife, fishing and most of all building and flying his remote control airplanes. He was a member of the AMA and the Flying Association and had his FAA license. He also loved talking with his sons and the ole timers (as he called them). However, his greatest love was his relationship and love with God and his faith.

Johnny had a long hard battle with pancreatic and liver cancer for 18 months. He was a fighter and never a quitter. All of his doctors said he was a miracle and an amazing man.

He and his wife want to thank: Bro. Robert Lawrence; Dr. George Phillips (GI at Erlanger); Dr. Davidson (oncologist) and all his staff; Angie, his special chemo nurse; Quality Private Duty Care and special nurses Tina, Stephanie, Rachael and Darinda - all who Johnny loved since they were like family to him and enjoyed seeing them everyday; Kirby at Caris; and to everyone that helped him during this time.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Adams, Crossville; sons, Jeffery Weatherby of Florida and Shannon Jackson and Shawn Jackson, both of Crossville; loving grandchildren, Jay Weatherby and Khloe Jackson; mother, Mary Ann (Adams) Tabor, Crossville; brothers, Billy Copeland and Alan Copeland, both of Crossville; and sisters, Sherry Mercer of Indiana and Cynthia Stephens of Louisiana.

Johnny was preceded in death by his father, Charles B. Hatcher; step-father, Shirley Copeland; grandfather, Baxter Adams; and special aunt, Wilma Adams.

Funeral services were held at Bilbrey Funeral Home on Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at 1 p.m. with Bro. Robert Lawrence officiating. Interment in Crossville City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Shawn Jackson, Bruce Cotter, Christopher Cotter, Jim Waters, Josh Robbins and Dave Schlachter.

Bilbrey Funeral Home, Inc. (www.bilbreyfh.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
