Jerry lived his life for those around him. He'd give you the shirt off his back. Jerry loved to play cards and sports. "Go Hoosiers and Go Cubs!" Jerry was an avid bowler. He even gave tips to opposing players because it brought him joy to help others. He was an old hippie, had a love for nature and teaching everyone about it.
"Blood does not define family, Love does."
Jerry met his sweetheart Patty in 1977, married in 1981 and moved to Tennessee in 1986.
He is survived by his wife Patty Phagan, his children Bryan, Eric, Lisa, George, Teresa, Romell, Kelly, Leia, Seth, Luke; his sisters, Jennifer and Dolores; his brother, Bruce; 33 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and many other friends and family members that he loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Michael Carr; his brothers, Russell Grover and Bruce Capshaw; his sister, Sheila; and his grandson, Zachary.
A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on March 15, 2026 at Plateau Bowling Lanes, 864 Highway 70 E.
