James Vernon Bohannon, 72, of Crossville, passed away Jan. 5, 2002. Funeral services were conducted Jan. 8 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Eastland Cemetery. Bro. Carson Whittaker and Bro. Charles Golden officiated. Mr. Bohannon was born Sept. 29, 1929, in White County, TN, the son of Quill and Gusta Lockwood Bohannon. He was a grocery retailer, and of the Methodist faith. He was U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Kate Dunham Bohannon of Crossville; daughters, Connie Blankenship of Crossville and Paula Fox of Sparta; son, Zack Bohannon of Crossville; sister, Helen Flatt of Sparta; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Leona Bohannon and Edna Clemons; and granddaughter, Lala Hunter. Pallbearers were Zack Bohannon, Shawn Hatfield Bohannon, Kevin Hunter, Nathan Hunter, Eric Garrison and J.J. Fox. Bilbrey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
