Howard "Rusty" Brown, 78, of Crossville, passed away Jan. 5, 2002. Funeral services were conducted Jan. 8 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home, with burial in Linary Cemetery. Bro. Dennis Lovell officiated, with special music by Bob Sites. Mr. Brown was born May 11, 1923, in Curwensville, PA, the son of Howard J. and Pearl Lippard Brown. He was a police officer for the city of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Church of Christ, the VFW and the American Legion. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, C. Thomas and Tyra Brown of Roswell, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Don Ray of Parker, CO, Cynthia and Mac Wildes of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Cathy and Don Sligh of Port Richey, FL; brother-in-law and his wife, John and Vi Curley; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Brown and Dorothy Curley; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Brown. Pallbearers were members of VFW Post 5025, Dick Lee, Jerry Playle, Ronald Kultau, Glenn Cobb, Charlie Jenkins, Kenneth Wagoner and Dale Barrie. Hood Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
