Nov. 2, 1917 — Sept. 30, 2011 Gertrude Irene "Sue" Adkins, 93, of Crossville, passed away Sept. 30, 2011. She will be laid to rest in Virginia at Clinch Valley Memory Garden's mausoleums at a later date. Mrs. Adkins was born Nov. 2, 1917, in Skelton, WV, the daughter of Silas Lawson and Minnie Lee Cheek Tucker. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her daughter, Carol Cole Barrett of Crossville; grandchildren, Deborah, John, Wanda, Frank, Darlene, Earl, Christine, Dewey, Jimmy and Richard; and many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Millard H. Adkins; son, Earl Lawson Merritt; daughter, Gertrude Irene Wyatt; brothers, Roy Tucker, Bill Tucker and Ronald Tucker; and sisters, Lillian Tucker and Cleo Tucker. Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.
