George Jerry Adcock Obituary

George Jerry Adcock, 90, was born April 10, 1930, in Madisonville, KY.

He served four years in the Air Force during the Korean War as an Aircraft Landing Control Operator (GCA), with two years in Japan. He retired from the Federal Aviation Administration, as a supervisor for air traffic control after 34 years, most of which was at the Crossville Memorial Airport.

A graduate of Roane State while working, when after retirement, he went back to collage where he obtained a B.S. degree in psychology from Middle Tennessee State University. He was a case manager for TN State DHS and Plateau Mental Health.

Over 12 years, George managed the Aviation Weather Station at the Crossville Airport, before automated weather reporting was started.

He served as a board member of the technical committee of the UCDD and as a railroad representative for the Cumberland County Railroad Authority.

George loved traveling, computer, photography and theology. He was a member of the Memorial Baptist Church, where he taught Adult Sunday School for many years.

His parental family name was Tibbs, and his adoptive parents were the late Robert Taylor Adcock and wife Maggie Nola Gober Adcock, of Springfeild, TN. The love of his life was his wife of 64 years, the late Nannie Lou Farmer Adcock. A daughter, Tina Honeycutt Taylor (Daniel Taylor), and her son, Shane Honeycutt. His son, the late George Christopher Adcock. George was also preceded in death by his three sisters.

Crossville Memorial Funeral Home was in charge, with funeral at the Memorial Baptist Church, with burial at the Pomona Cemetery. Special thanks to Hospice of Cumberland County.
