Floy Litchford, 97, of Brush Creek, TN, passed away Jan. 26, 2002. Funeral services were conducted Jan. 27 at New Middleton Baptist Church, with Bro. Mark Stinnett and Dr. Paul Durham officiating. Interment was in Litchford Family Cemetery in Brush Creek. Mrs. Litchford was born Sept. 3, 1904, in the Temperance Hall community, the daughter of Betty Corley and Alvin Williams. She was first married to Sheldon Close, and he preceded her in death in 1936. She was then married to David William Litchford on Nov. 24, 1938, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 1977. Mrs. Litchford participated in Alexandria Senior Citizens, and was a 54-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Carthage Chapter, being a past Matron, and transferring to Crescent Chapter in Hartsville, TN, upon the closing of the Carthage Chapter. Leading a very active church life, she had been a member of New Middleton Baptist Church for 62 years. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn Litchford and Richard Harper of Brush Creek; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. David Williams and Susan Litchford of Crossville; grandchildren, Dr. Melinda Carol Harper of Hilton Head, SC, David Williams Litchford Jr. of Memphis, Rachel Litchford Dyer and her husband Christopher Dyer of Highlands, NC, and Mark Windle Litchford of Nashville; niece and nephew-in-law, Sue Williams and Ed Eaton of Lebanon, TN; and numerous other nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were David Williams Litchford Jr., Mark Windle Litchford, Edward Eaton, Randy Eaton, Michael Eaton, Ralph Agee, Charlie Bissinger and Tom Bush; New Middleton Baptist Church Adult No. 2 Sunday school class; and Carthage and Crescent chapters, Order of the Eastern Star. The family requests that memorials be made to New Middleton Baptist Church Building Fund, 493 New Middleton Hwy., Gordonsville, TN 38563.
