Warsaw, IN - Edward D. Mayo, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on Nov. 14, 2025. Throughout his life, Ed's career led him to live in many places before he and Carolyn finally settled in Warsaw, IN. After retiring, they enjoyed nearly two decades in Fairfield Glade, from 2001 to 2019. Upon returning to Indiana, they resided at Cedar Creek Assisted Living in Warsaw, where Ed spent his final days surrounded by love and peace.

Born on June 24, 1933, in Elkins, WV, Ed answered the call to serve his country by joining the Air Force in June 1950.

Following Basic Training and Electronic School, he proudly served with the 78th Fighter Interceptor Squadron in England, Germany, and Libya. After his honorable discharge in 1954, Ed pursued higher education at the Indiana Institute of Technology in Fort Wayne, IN.

In 1956, Ed met the love of his life, Carolyn Jean Stalter, and they were married on May 18, 1957. Their enduring partnership was a testament to their deep love and commitment.

Ed is survived by his devoted wife, Carolyn; their son, Mark Mayo and his wife Cindy; grandchildren, Miranda (Elijah) Cannon, Victoria Mayo, and Zach Mayo of Milwaukee, WI; son, Jeff Mayo and granddaughter Nikki Mayo of Kendallville, IN; and daughter, Lisa Mayo of Roann, IN. He also cherished three great-grandchildren: Taylor, Paige, and Chase Cannon. He was preceded in death by his father, James W. Mayo; mother, Harriet A. Mayo Frenz; stepbrother, Keith Frenz; and infant brother, James Richard.

After graduating in 1959, Ed built a successful career in military electronics, manufacturing engineering and management, and later as co-owner of a manufacturer's representative company. His professional journey reflected his dedication, expertise, and leadership.

Ed's passions extended beyond his work. He enjoyed golf, hunting, boating, traveling, and tending to his yard. A lifelong member of both the Elks and the Knights of Columbus, Ed was a man of deep faith. He found joy in singing with the Saint Francis choir and serving as a Minister of Care to the homebound in Fairfield Glade. Additionally, he was a private pilot who loved the freedom of flying.

Ed's life was marked by love — for God, family, friends, and the simple joys of life. His warmth, kindness, and spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
