Beverly Anne Pitts
Mrs. Beverly Anne Pitts ("Boo"), a resident of Fairfield Glade, passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 15, 2018, at the age of 81, surrounded by several family members. For more than 50 years, Bev was married to the late Gerald Pitts, the love of her life, whom she now joins in heaven.
Born in Queens, New York, to the late Florence and George North Sr., Bev graduated high school from St. Agnes Academic School in Rockville Centre. She worked in the market research industry as a copy editor/proofreader. After retiring in 1997, she and Gerald moved to Fairfield Glade to pursue their lifelong love of golf. Bev was active in several leagues, scored her first hole-in-one, and was awarded the Dimpled Globe Award in 2007 for outstanding achievement by residents who benefit their community with personal leadership and character.
Bev was preceded in death by her sister, Gail Johnson; her brother, George North Jr; and cherished pet dog Duke. She is survived by her children, Kenneth (and Bambi) Pitts of Connecticut; Cynthia Van Diest of New York; David Pitts of Tennessee; Jeff (and Laura) Pitts of Illinois; Diane Ward of Texas; and stepdaughter, Heather (and Manuel) Garcia; sisters, Diane Ferrari of Georgia and Melissa (and Steven) Kalbacher of New York; and 14 grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including her goddaughter, Donna Goguen of Texas, and godson, Tom Pitts of Massachusetts.
Bev had a passion for her family, travel, golf, the local Playhouse, crossword puzzles, her Catholic faith, and was often seen enjoying karaoke on weekend nights. Bev will be buried in the spring next to her loving husband Gerald at the VA Cemetery in Middletown, CT, following a ceremony with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to AMVETS, one of Boo's favorite charities.
