Crossville, TN - Barbara Nell Harvey Hood, 90, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026. Barbara was born in Harriman, TN on July 23, 1935, to the late Claude S. and Georgia Capps Harvey. After living in Harriman for most of her life, Barbara relocated to Crossville in 2003.
Barbara lived at "The Preserve" in Crossville for the last 13 years. Barbara attended Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church for many years and worked as a Lab Tech for EG&G ORTEC after working for Burlington Hosiery Mill in Harriman and was a graduate of Oliver Springs High School.
In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Hood. Brothers C.S. "Sony" Harvey, Bill Harvey and Jim Harvey along with sisters Wilma Shultz and Patsy Begley.
She is survived by her daughter, Jan Smith and husband Tim; one grandchild, Tori Moss and husband EJ; two great-grandchildren, Emmi Moss and Kaemon Moss, along with a special niece, Missy Harvey; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Receiving of Friends will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. EST. at Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs, TN, with funeral service at 7 p.m. EST. with Pastor Garvin Walls officiating. Graveside service will be on Monday, May 11, 2026, at 11 a.m. EST. at Roane Memorial Gardens in Rockwood, TN.
