Woodrow's Story

May 22, 1929—May 27, 2015 Woodrow Thacker Sr., 86, of Crossville, passed away May 27, 2015, at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville. He was born May 22, 1929, in Pikeville, KY, son of the late Lee and Lizza (Coleman) Thacker. He worked in manufacturing as a steel worker and was a gardner, beekeeper and Bible reader. He was also of the Old Regular Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife, Nell Thacker, Crossville; son, Danny Lee Thacker (Fran) of Ohio; daughter, Karen Sue Thacker, Crossville; and brother, Homer Thacker of Ohio. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Joey Thacker, Christopher Thacker, Jason Hayslett, Jessica Thacker and Rebecca Thacker, and four great-grandchildren, Allyson Hayslett, Eli Hayslett, Bailey Thacker and Weston Thacker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Gracie Slone Thacker; son, Woodrow Thacker, Jr.; daughter, Jeanell Hayslett; brothers, Preston Thacker, Willie Thacker, Jessie Thacker; and sisters, Bertha Pinston, Mary Conway, Lula Thacker, Maggie Sloan and Ida Justice. Funeral services were held at Bilbrey Funeral Home on Saturday, May 30, 2015,  with Bro. Ralph Reagan officiating. Interment in Town Cemetery in Spencer, TN. Bilbrey Funeral Home, Inc. (www.bilbreyfh.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
