April 22, 1918—July 5, 2015 Mr. William Robert Crego, 97, a long-time resident of Nashville and Fairfield Glade, TN, was born April 22, 1918, and passed away July 5, 2015. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Cecillia Crego; son William Robert Crego Jr.; and sister, Dorothy Summers. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard on submarine patrol during WWII. He worked in the pipeline construction industry and built much of today's cross country pipeline infrastructure. He was project manager during construction of the Alaskan Pipeline. Later, he formed his own company, All Star Construction of Lavergne, TN. During his retirement, he volunteered his service to Hilltoppers, Inc. of Crossville, an organization that promotes independence to adults with intellectual disabilities. Surviving are John (Linda) Crego; five grandchildren, Christy Jones, Robbie Crego, Shannon Arnett, Erin Crego and Colleen Strouse; and seven great-grandchildren.
