Willard Stanton Vitatoe of Crab Orchard passed away Wednesday Aug. 10, 2016. He was born Dec. 5, 1934, in Crab Orchard, TN, to parents John Harley and Ruby Frances Turner Vitatoe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Erma Jean Vitatoe; and son-in-law, Carl Keck. He is survived by his wife, Sue; and daughters, Evelyn Ruth Keck of Crab Orchard and Sandra Gail Downs (Keith) of Ozark, AR. Surviving granddaughters are Tessa Detweiler (Ryan), Robin Dinkins (Jimmy), Ashley Turner (Jimmy) and Martha Pippin. Surviving grandsons are Cody Keck (Katie) of Winchester, TN, Taylor Pippin (Mary Jane) and Timothy Pippin, each of Fort Smith, AR. Surviving sisters are Shirley Vitatoe and Linda Godsey (Joel), each of Crossville.
His kindness, smile and love will be greatly missed by those who called him husband, dad, brother, uncle or friend. He was a true gentleman in every sense of the word, and he spread unconditional love and kindness to everyone he met.
He served his community as Postmaster from 1997 until his retirement after 29 years of service. He was recognized several times by the US Postal Service for his outstanding service.
He was a member of the Crab Orchard Church of God, serving many years as clerk.
The family received friends on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with funeral services held at 1 in the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home. Services were officiated by the Rev. Terry Bear and Rev. Robert Shook. Interment was in Turner Cemetery.
