Virginia Chamness was born Sept. 19, 1920, in Dwight, Il. She passed away at the age of 96 on Oct. 12, 2016, at Life Care Nursing Home in Crossville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander and Rachel Humbert; brother, Edwin Humbert; and husband, Paul Chamness.
She is survived by her sisters, Yvonne Feller and Maureen Speake; brother, Alexander Humbert and Raymond Humbert; children, Paula Chamness, Jude Deason, Joel Chamness, Gina Biekman and Lisa Barsema; grandchildren, Paul Zauss, Mark Zauss, Jeff Deason, Amanda Jennings, Hannah Worm, Brian Biekman, Julian Biekman and Keith Barsema; great-grandchildren, Evan, Layla and Katie Jennings, Daphne and Valerie Worm, and Tristan and Cole Deason; and so many nieces and nephews.
She was an excellent nurse, usually in the maternity ward, in Holland, MI, and Kankakee, Sandwich and LaGrange, IL, hospitals. She was very much loved — a gentle soul who found meaning in helping others.
