Stephen's Story

March 25, 1956—March 10, 2016 Stephen Alan Smith, 59, of Pikeville, went home to be with the Lord on March 10, 2016. Alan served as a Bledsoe County School Board member from 1994–2013. He was also a member of the Bledsoe County Genealogical Society, Historical Society and the March of Dimes. He loved traveling, trains, photography and was a history buff. Alan was a member of Lee Station Baptist Church. Alan was preceded in death by parents, Beecher and Eunice Smith; brothers, Gerald and Jimmy Smith; nephew, Ivan Smith; great-nephew, Keith Smith; and several aunts and uncles. Left behind to cherish his memory are his siblings, Melvin (Charlotte) Smith, Sharon (Denny) Woodsmall, Shelia Stone, Gwen (Darryl) Woodall and Angela (Phillip) Hankins; nieces and nephews, Gerald, Dwayne, Jim, Brian and Kevin Smith, Mechelle Brodley, Bobby (Angela) Angel, Christy (Bob) Hearne, Joann (Joey) Simmons, Monica (Ronald) Blankenship, Shauna (Nick) Patton, Marie Stone, Candy (Raymond) Reel, Michael (Jessica) Hannah, Amanda (Eric) Morgan, Cameron Hankins, and his special care-givers Adrian and Dylan Hankins; several aunts, uncles, great-nieces, great-nephews; and a host of friends. A celebration of Alan’s life will be held 1 p.m. CDT Monday in the Pikeville Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Bill Wolfe and Bro. T. A. Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 9 p.m. CDT Sunday. Burial will be in the Beecher and Eunice Smith Family Cemetery. Pikeville Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
