Sonya Renee Luttrell, 54, of Crossville, passed away on June 19, 2017. Her life began at Methodist Hospital on Jan. 6, 1963, in Oak Ridge, TN. Renee graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1981 with honors. She then earned a degree in Theatre Arts from Seattle Pacific University in 1985. Renee then completed her academic career by obtaining a M.F.A. from the University of Idaho in 1988.
Throughout her childhood, it was evident Renee possessed a natural talent with arts and crafts. Those God-given talents developed her academic and career paths. Her entire working career of 29 years was spent at the Cumberland County Playhouse, where she was the head of the costume department.
Renee was probably best known for her benevolence and empathy for all. She was associated with many charities over the years, and could never shy away from assisting an animal in need. Her favorite past time was traveling with family off the beaten path and soaking up what this world has to offer.
Renee was predeceased by her father, Eugene R. Garrett, and sister, Elisa J. Garrett.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, William Stephen Luttrell; Marilyn K. Garrett, mother; Samuel T. Luttrell, son; Stephen Luttrell, step-son; Reece and Gavin Luttrell, Grandchildren; Bill and Keither Luttrell, in-laws; Shirley Carey, special aunt; and many other friends and loved ones.
The burial was at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 26, 2017, at Parham Cemetery. Visitation with the family followed at the Cumberland County Playhouse from 4:30 until 6 p.m. the same day. A Celebration of Life service took place at 6 p.m. Rev. Drew Shelley officiated the service.
