Rev. Sarah N. Macdonald, 64, resident of Shelby, passed away Monday, May 2, 2016, in Hospice House of Ashland.
She was born Aug. 18, 1951, in Hamlet, NC, to the late Walter Thomas and Sarah Elizabeth (MacPhail) Hatchell. Raised in Willimantic, CT, she had lived in the Northern Ohio area for many years moving to Shelby in 2015. Sarah was a graduate of Baldwin Wallace University and the United Theological Seminary in Dayton. She was a United Methodist Pastor for 25 years serving in various churches. She was previously employed with the Lorain County Community College.
She was a member of the Biblical Story Tellers and a clergy member of the East Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Sarah was a movie buff and enjoyed crafts and art work. She loved to travel and spontaneous road trips were her favorite.
Survivors include her husband, Rev. James S. Macdonald, whom she married Aug. 9, 2011; two sons, Matthew Cerreto, of Sullivan, OH, and Nicholas Cerreto of Geneva on the Lake, OH; two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Isaac Cerreto; five step-children and four step-grandsons; one sister, Frances Brown of Crossville, TN; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Memorial funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at the United Methodist Church in Shelby. Rev. Peg Welch of the Ontario United Methodist Church will officiate. Friends may call at the church Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. In lieu of flowers memorial expressions may be made to Nehemiah Mission, 6515 Bridge Ave., Cleveland, OH, 44102.
Barkdull Funeral Home and Crematory in Shelby is assisting the family with arrangements.
