March 10, 2015 Ross F. Snodderly, 96 years young, passed passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Baptist Hospital in Louisville, KY, from complications of pneumonia. He was preceded in death five weeks prior by his wife, Reba Snodderly. Ross was one of eight children, born to the late Gaines and Ella Hamilton Snodderly of Union County, TN. He was a proud Army veteran of World War II. He was trained as an engine specialist, being stationed in Cairo, Egypt, and Sicily, Italy. Five of the Snodderly boys were in active service at the same time. Ross worked for the Alcoa Aluminum Co. for three years, Fuller Brush Co. for 60 years and retired as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service after 17 years. Ross loved his church, First Baptist, where he served as a deacon and on several committees. He was a family man, musician, salesman and postman. His passion was fiddling. He loved bluegrass music. He played the fiddle on a radio station as a second job early in life and for churches and nursing homes throughout life. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who taught by Christian example. Ross showed us remarkable courage, faith, and wisdom as he dealt with his wife's Alzheimer's disease. Ross exemplified the words of the Apostle Paul who said, "I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith." He was preceded in death by his sister, Ollie Albright, and brothers Frank, Carl and George Snodderly. He is survived by his brothers, Earl and Jim, and his sister, Lois Ketner. He is also survived by his two children, Paula Roberts (Jeff) of Louisville, KY, and Bill Snodderly (Nadine) of Vaccaville, CA; his seven grandchildren, Aaron, Ben (Amanda), James, Sarah Anne and Naomi Snodderly, Grant (Brie) and Katherine Roberts; and three great-grandchildren. The family would also like to thank Ross’s physician, Dr. Robert Nichols, for his care through the years. Memorial gifts can be made to First Baptist Church, 712 S. Main St., Crossville, TN 38555 or to Gideon’s International, 2900 Lebanon Road, Nashville, TN 37214. Bilbrey Funeral Home, Inc. (www.bilbreyfh.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
