Robert Thomas Soldon, of Fairfield Glade, passed away July 7, 2017. He was 74 years old.
A retired New York City police officer, he was a consummate professional public servant, loyal friend, avid golfer and dedicated family man. A cancer survivor, "Bookem" Bob Soldon courageously lived his life in the belief that every day was a gift from God meant to be appreciated to the fullest with those he loved. A closet romantic, when he wasn't on the golf course he was planning or taking trips with his wife and coordinating visits to family, and conversations and goodbyes with those he cared deeply about were always finished with "I love you" or "I am proud of you." One question that is often asked of men is whether they lived their lives with passion. For Bob Soldon, the answer was a resounding "Yes."
He is survived by his wife, Carole Soldon; sons Robert S. Soldon (Commander-US Navy retired) and Brian T. Soldon (Lieutenant Colonel-US Army retired); and four grandchildren, Garrett, Evan, Kaitlyn and Erin.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 13, 2017, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church.
Hood Funeral Home and Crematory, LLC (www.hoodfuneralhome.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
