Robert Larry Lynn left this earth Saturday morn, Feb. 11, 2017, accompanied by, some say, a battalion of angels and was carried straightaway to the Table of the Lord. As he departed, the lights in this world flickered and have not recovered; the light in Heaven, already bright, supernovaed!
Larry was a lay preacher when he was in his 20s but then decided to pursue his calling to educate. He taught at Roane State but was best known for his years as an educator at Homestead, where he positively influenced many young minds. He was not a cookie cuter teacher. To imprint and instill a point, Larry used humor, outrageous metaphors and his wonderful personality. Many a student in his area remember that wonderful teacher at Homestead!
Larry never really stopped teaching. In retirement, much of his teaching involved the Bible. He did know his was around scripture!
We thank God for loaning us Larry. His mind, his wit, his goodness; they enriched our lives. He will not be forgotten or replaced in our hearts. We just hope he remembers to save us a seat at the Judgement Seat of Christ!
Larry is survived by his beautiful wife, Sherry; dad; stepmom; three sisters; brother; three children; nine grandchildren; and two adopted grandchildren. He was preceded to Heaven by his mother; brother, Rick; and stepfather.
Central Baptist Church in Crossville will host the visitation and celebration of Larry's life. The visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, immediately followed at 11 a.m. by a joyous celebration of his time on earth.
Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.
