Rita L. Beeman, born Dec. 30, 1918, passed away at home June 1, 2016. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Beeman.
She is survived by her son, Lee Beeman and his wife Debbie Hancock Beeman; granddaughters, Amy Ahearn and husband Chris, Holly Dewar and Heather Dooley and husband Brandt; great grandchildren, Will and Lily Dooley; daughter, Lynne Baker and husband Bob Diller; grandson, Mike Baker and wife Wendy Pais Baker; and great granddaughters, Hannah and Emily Baker; as well as special friends Nick Bailey, Rundi Ream, Ray Carpentier, Linda Carr, Betty Bray, Brenda Starr, Debbie Towns, Barbara Byers and Garlene Crowdis.
A staunchly independent, spirited but gentle 97-year-old, Rita lived alone in her own home and enjoyed visits with her friends and neighbors, and playing bridge and scrabble until her death. In recognition of her concern for the education of young people, a scholarship fund in her name will be established and contributions to that fund in lieu of flowers may be sent to 26 Thames Court, Fairfield Glade, TN 38558.
There will be no viewing; however, a funeral mass and celebration of life at St. Francis of Assisi will be Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at 10 a.m. A luncheon buffet will follow in Sheehan Hall at the church.
