April 23, 1931—July 25, 2015 Richard Jay VanderVeen, 83, was born on April 23, 1931, to Cornelius and Jenny Heykoop VanderVeen in New Era, MI. He passed away at his home in Crossville on July 25, 2015. Richard enjoyed woodworking, flying airplanes and hunting. Richard was survived by his wife, Elinor, and is survived by his daughters, Sharon (Marvin) Deur, Pamela (Phillip) Wierenga and Michelle Bosser; grandchildren, Brent (Rebecah) Duer, Rachel (Chad) Terpstra, Aaron (Kayne) Duer, Jamieson (Alison) Wierenga, Nathan (Rebecca) Triemstra, and John (Kaitlyn) McClean; great grandchildren, Madison and Corbyn Terpstra, Peyton, Jaxon, Madalyn and Evelyn Duer, Ryker, Dylan and Tyson Wierenga, Jonas, Norah and Miles Triemstra, Lucas, Cameron and Elijah McClean, and Bryce Freeman. He was preceded in death by his parents and great grandson, Brody Freeman. Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.
