Nov. 12, 1926—Jan. 8, 2016 The Rev. James Roland Kennedy, 89, of Crossville, TN, passed away Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville. He was born Nov. 12, 1926, in Deer Lodge, TN, son of the late James Otto Kennedy and Mary Arbana (Hickman) Kennedy. Rev. Kennedy worked as a carpenter and was a member of the Bakers Crossroads Freewill Baptist Church. He also proudly served his country in the United States Army during the World War II. He is survived by his daughters, Ellen Straw and Kay Brown (Kenneth); sons, Robert Kennedy (Linda) and Mark Kennedy (Diana); brothers, Ronnie Kennedy and Winston Kennedy; and sister, Doris Hinds. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Rev. Kennedy was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Mae Kennedy; sisters, Viola Knox and Jeane Jones; and brothers, Paul Kennedy, Willis Kennedy, Bennett Kennedy and Dwight Kennedy. Funeral services were held at Bilbrey Funeral Home on Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mark Kennedy, the Rev. Danny Allen and the Rev. Gregory L. Keller officiating. Interment in Crossville City Cemetery. Bilbrey Funeral Home, Inc. (www.bilbreyfh.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
