Aug. 3, 1924—Dec. 9, 2015 Roy Lee "R.L." Rose Jr., 91, of Crab Orchard, passed away Dec. 9, 2015, at Cumberland House in Crossville. He was born Aug. 3, 1924, in Crab Orchard, the son of the late Roy Lee Rose Sr. and Edna Mae (Barnes) Rose. After proudly serving his country in the United States Army Air Force during World War II, R.L. returned home and made his career as a stone mason. He is survived by his daughter, Sheila Strock (Randy) of Crossville; sons, Chester Rose (Linda) and David Rose (Sandra), both of Crossville; daughter-in-law, Lisa Culpepper Rose of Crossville; grandchildren, Toshua Berdy (John), Kelsey Simpson (Jason), Danielle Wilkerson (A.J.), Alison Courington (Alex), Derek Rose, Tosha Gunter and Sean Strock; great-grandchildren, Timothy Rosser (Brandy), Darren Rosser (Marissa), Karri Berdy, Della Simpson, Austin Gunter, McKinley Gunter and Baylee Gunter; sisters, Aileen Rose of Crossville, Brenda Shepherd of Maryland and Phyllis Parker of North Carolina; and brother, Olney Rose of Crab Orchard. In addition to his parents, R.L. was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Illine Mullinax Rose; son, Roy Lee Rose III; and brothers, J. D. Rose, Shelley Rose and Boyd Rose. Funeral services were held at Bilbrey Funeral Home Dec. 12, with Bro. Dennis Lovell officiating. Interment was in Green Acres Memory Gardens will full military honors by the Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers were Derek Rose, A.J. Wilkerson, Jason Simpson, Timothy Rosser, Alex Courington and Sean Strock. Bilbrey Funeral Home, Inc. (www.bilbreyfh.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
