Patrick Lincoln Brant, 85, passed on June 4, 2017, with his wife, Margaret, at his side.
He was born Feb. 15, 1932, in Yemassee, SC, to Lloyd and Myrtle (Taylor) Brant. Pat spent teenage summers entertaining himself at the movie theater in Jacksonville, FL.
In 1950, he joined the Navy and met the love of his life, Margaret Robbins, in Jacksonville in 1956 at a Valentine's Day party. Married in July, they moved to Paris in October. After a tour at sea, Patrick was assigned to the Pentagon. After 10 years in the Navy, he attended Washington Bible College. Opportunities took the young couple to Philadelphia, Chicago and Arizona, where in 1971 the Brants, with their two boys, Douglas Lloyd and Keith Alan, laid down roots.
In Arizona, the Brants purchased and grew The Carpenter's Shop, a Christian bookstore, for 13 years. They were active members at Grace Community Church. Patrick's easy going and accepting manner led him to open a counseling service. In 1987, with the kids grown, Patrick and Margaret sold the business to serve in Indonesia, followed by two years in Haiti. Returning to Phoenix, Margaret took a job at American West Airlines and Patrick sold insurance. Patrick enjoyed benefits of free air travel to Egypt, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Mexico and more, in service of Christ.
In 2006 they made their final move together to Fairfield Glade. In 2008 Patrick was diagnosed with dementia. Because of the disease, he couldn't teach Bible study but found comfort in inspiring the memory group. He saw that as continued ministry. This began the long good bye.
Patrick is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret Ann (Robbins) Brant; two married sons, Doug (Jenny) Brant and Keith (Sabrina) Brant; and four grandchildren, Ian, Aniya, Sidney and Raimee.
A memorial services were held at Fairfield Glade First Baptist Church on June 10, 2017, from 10 a.m. to noon with military honors.
