Neal Redman Taylor, of Crossville, passed away at the age of 86 after an extended illness on June 29, 2016.
Neal was born in Brownsville Junction, ME, on July 27, 1929, to Reginald and Lora Taylor. He graduated from Guilford High School in 1947 where he finished First Honor Essay. He then attended the University of Maine.
Neal could never really sit still and his numerous travels took him from Maine to Florida to Ohio and eventually Tennessee. He was a voracious reader and could finish a large novel in a matter of days if not hours. He also held at one time his pilots license. In his later years would visit the Cumberland County Airport and often catch a ride with one of the local pilots. Neal also enjoyed playing golf and it was always that one good shot that kept him playing one more time.
Neal was preceded in death by his sisters, Patricia and Diane.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Patricia M. Taylor of Crossville; sons, Gary (Melody) Taylor of Nashville, TN, and Roger (Elkin) Taylor of New York, NY; daughter, Linda Robertson of Mesa, AZ; five granddaughters, two grandsons and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Virginia Anderson of Quincy, MA.
The family has asked that in lieu of cards or flowers that a donation be made in Neal's name to Hospice of Cumberland County, 30 East Adams St., Crossville, TN 38555.
