April 27, 1923—March 12, 2015 Mitchell G. Nolan, 91, of Crossville, passed away March 12, 2015. He was born April 27, 1923 in Griffin, GA, the son of George G. and Elizabeth Connally Nolan. He was retired as an instructor at Marietta Cobb Area Vocational and Technical School in Marietta, GA. He was also an Army Air Corps veteran who proudly served his country during World War II. He was a Christian man who loved God and was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Crossville. His family was the most special part of his life and he loved them greatly. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Martha “Bitsy” Awtrey Nolan of Crossville; son, Michael A. Nolan and his wife, Roselyn, of Gainesville, GA; daughter, Vickie Leese and her husband, Scott, of St. Augustine, FL; grandchildren, Adam Leese, Chris Leese, Jay Leese, Heather Brenneman, Jennifer Nolan, Steven Nolan and Melanie Garza; six great-grandchildren; and many more adopted by love. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters and six brothers. Funeral services were held March 14, at First Baptist Church. Blaine Hedgecoth and Pastor Kevin Carter officiated, with burial in Crossville City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Chris Leese, Adam Leese, Mike Nolan, Jeff Smith, Ron Smith and Adam Brenneman. Military honors were given. Hood Funeral Home and Crematory, LLC (www.hoodfuneralhome.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
