Dec. 21, 1918—Feb. 1, 2016 Mary Pauline Sisco, 97, of Heath, formerly of Crossville, passed away Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, at Arlington Health Care in Newark. Pauline was born in the coal mining town of Clifty, TN, on Dec. 21, 1918, the twin daughter of the late Ed Lowery and Beulah Kidwell Lowery Hodge. Her father died when she was two years old. When the mines in Clifty closed, she and her family moved to another coal mining town, Davidson, TN, where she grew up and went to school. Also, she was a witness to the violence that was encountered during the conflict between mine owners and miners that were attempting to organize a union. During her school years she was a star on the girls' basketball team. Following her school years she married Marvin Sisco and they moved to Muddy Pond, TN, where she gave birth to her only child, William Edward Sisco. During World War II when her husband was serving in the U.S. Army, she moved to Monterey, TN, where she worked in the hosiery mill. When her husband returned from the Army he was surprised to learn that she had saved every bit of the allotment that he had sent home. After World War II, Pauline and her family moved to Dayton, Ohio, where she worked for the Inland Division of General Motors for 30 years. During her career with General Motors she maintained a perfect attendance record, never taking an unscheduled day off or being tardy. Both she and her husband retired in 1978 and moved to Crossville. Her husband passed away in 1989 and she lived alone until 2010 when she moved to Heath to live with her son due to health problems. While living in Tennessee she attended West Avenue Church of Christ and after moving to Ohio she attended Heath United Methodist Church. She also became a member of the Heath Lions Club. Pauline is survived by her son, William Edward Sisco; a brother, Beecher (Junior) Hodge; grandson, Thomas Sisco; granddaughter, Marty Sisco; great-granddaughter, Mary Sisco; great-grandson, Jeremy Graham; great-great-grandson, Isaiah Jewell; great-great-grandson, Peyton Graham; special niece, Cleda Eller; nieces, Margaret Edwards and Peggy Whited; and nephews, J.T.
