Sept. 21, 1921—Nov. 15, 2015 Mary Margaret "Toad" Brown, 94, of Crossville, passed away Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015, at Wyndridge Health & Rehab Center in Crossville. She was born Sept. 21, 1921, in Kingston, TN, daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Phillips Sr. and Beatrice Eliza (Casteel) Phillips. Toad was a homemaker was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by her daughter, Eleanor Geneva "Jo" Evans (Wayne), Knoxville, TN; son, Cecil Richard "Witsy" Brown, Crossville; sister, Laura Belle Brown, Lenoir City, TN; brother, Grover Cleveland Phillips Jr., FL; grandson, Roman Evans, Ralph Richard Brown and Jeffrey Allen Brown; and granddaughter, Nikki Evans Hayes. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Toad was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Haskell Brown; granddaughter, Cecily Lewis; brother, Robert W. Phillips; and sisters, Nellie Sue Newman and Blanche Cornett. Funeral services will be held at Bilbrey Funeral Home on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at noon CST with Bro. David Wilkerson officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11 a.m. to noon CST. Interment will be in Roane Memorial Gardens at 3 p.m. EST. Bilbrey Funeral Home, Inc.
