Sept. 19, 1931—Dec. 2, 2015 Martin Van Smith Jr., 84, of Kettering, OH, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, at Heartland of Kettering, OH. He was born Sept. 19, 1931, in Crossville, son to the late Martin "Shorty" Van Smith Sr. and Mandy Ethel (Wyatt) Smith. Martin proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and later became a truck driver for the United States Postal Service. He is survived by his sons, Martin Wayne Smith, Dayton, OH, and Tony Smith (Heikie), Tucson, AZ; and daughter, Karen Grooms, Phoenix, AZ. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Andy Grooms, Cody Smith and Kelsey Smith. In addition to his parents, Martin was preceded by his brother, Baby Smith. Funeral services will be held at Bilbrey Funeral Home on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015, at 1 p.m. with Bro. Vern Daugherty officiating. Interment will be in Crossville City Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bilbrey Funeral Home, Inc.
