Maggie Virnell Myers, 93, of Crossville, passed away Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016, at Life Care Center of Crossville.
She was born Nov. 29, 1922, in Pikeville, TN, daughter of the late Ellis Copeland Edmonds and Rosie Ann (Thomas) Edmonds. Maggie was a devoted wife of 74 years to the late Roy C. Myers. She served the Lord, dedicated her life to being a Christian and for many years was a Sunday school teacher at Homestead Baptist Church. As the wife of a farmer, she was hands on in helping to raise chickens, cattle and hogs. She cooked for field hands and prepared and canned the bounty from her garden. She enjoyed sewing, growing flowers and church.
She is survived by her son, Randall Gene Myers, Crossville; grandchildren, Michelle Parrish, Randy Myers and LeAnn Houston; five great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Maggie was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Carmon Myers; brothers, Alfred Edmonds, Auce Edmonds, Jerry Edmonds, Hugh Edmonds, Claude Edmonds and J.L. Edmonds; and sisters, Eliza Curtis, Josie Belle Hankins and Cora Brewer.
Funeral services were held at Bilbrey Funeral Home on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016, at 11 a.m. with Bro. Eddie Kilgore officiating. Interment in Green Acres Memory Gardens.
