March 16, 1923—March 4, 2015 Lucille Grace McCoy McClure, formerly of Fairfield Glade, departed this life peacefully March 4, 2015, while residing at Life Care Center of Crossville, due to an extended illness. Lucille was born March 16, 1923, in Lockbridge, WV, to the late George and Effie Longhenry. Raised in Montgomery, WV, she graduated from Montgomery High School and met and married her first husband, Homer Lee McCoy. Upon moving to Oak Hill, WV, they raised their only child, daughter Beverly, prior to the passing of H. Lee McCoy. Lucille was a long-time employee of Bell Atlantic, now AT&T, from which she retired, and she was also active in the American Legion Auxiliary, Oak Hill United Methodist Church and several local garden clubs in Oak Hill. Several years ago, she rekindled her friendship with Roger McClure, a friend from high school, and they married and relocated to Fairfield Glade. She and Roger enjoyed many happy years together, playing bridge and golf, until his passing in 2003. Lucille remained in Fairfield Glade until she was transferred to Life Care due to declining health. Lucille leaves to cherish her memory her grandchildren, Megan Darnold of Charleston, WV, and Carson Darnold of Huntington, WV; stepson, Roger McClure (Cheryl) and family; and many cousins, friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Mary and George II; husbands, H. Lee McCoy, Erwin Matheny and Roger McClure; and daughter, Beverly (McCoy) Darnold and her husband, Hal Darnold. The family would like to give their deepest gratitude to the staff at Life Care Center of Crossville for their excellent care of Lucille during her final years — "For their service and kindness, we will always be grateful." Private graveside services will be held at Highlawn Cemetery (Oak Hill, WV) at a later date. Condolences may be sent to Megan Darnold. Bilbrey Funeral Home, Inc. (www.bilbreyfh.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
