Lewis Arthur LaForce, 73, of Crossville, TN, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN.
He was born May 30, 1943, in Elmira, NY, son of the late Arthur David LaForce and Martha Elizabeth (Halderman) LaForce.
Lewis proudly served his country and retired from the United States Navy. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and had a love for trains and music. He played drums in his high school band and for over 50 years he sang in church and community choirs. With the Gold Coast Concert Chorus he performed in places such as Germany and Carnegie Hall. He was also a member of the Crossville Model Railroad Club.
Lewis was a loving husband, father and friend who was known for his adventurous and humorous spirit.
He is survived by his wife, Carol LaForce; daughter, Desiree Griffin (Eric); son, Dennis Arthur LaForce (Maia); grandsons, Deven Gramanz (Drusilla) and John Lewis Peters; great-grandchildren, Devin Jr., Dominique and Drew; sisters, Nancy Northrup (Arnie) and Sally English (Virgil); and brother, David LaForce (Nancy).
In addition to his parents, Lewis was preceded in death by his first wife, Georgianna Marie McKinster LaForce.
Memorial services with full military honors will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Fairfield Glade on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jenny Barnes officiating. Interment in Christ Lutheran Columbarium.
