Melba T. Barnwell, 94, of Crossville, passed away July 20, 2015, at Wharton Nursing Home in Pleasant Hill, TN. She was born Jan. 7, 1921, in Crossville, daughter of the late Julius Hamby and Ruth (Tollett) Hamby. She worked as a teacher's aide and was a member of the Pinegrove Church of God. She is survived by her son, Rondal Barnwell of Crossville; and daughters, Carolyn Whittenburg of Crossville, Carlee Wyatt of Gatlinburg and Connie Hill of Crossville. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl V. Barnwell; grandson, Brian Smith; brothers, Oscar Hamby and El Hamby; and sisters, Mildred Cox, Mabel Barnwell, Martha Chilikos, Marjorie Elmore and Madelyn Bryson. Funeral services were held at Bilbrey Funeral Home July 22, with Bro. Jack Lawson and Bro. Todd Bagley officiating. Interment was in Tolletts Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers were Nick Whittenburg, Ron Smith, Todd Smith, Jake Gantner, Ryan Davis, Eddie Wyatt, Jule Bryson, Jim Bryson and Carl Barnwell. Bilbrey Funeral Home, Inc.
