Larry Wayne Ebert, 71, of Crossville, passed away April 9, 2016. He was born Jan. 10, 1945, in Winston Salem, NC, the son of Herbert Paul and Martha Butcher Ebert. He retired after many years as president of Flowers Bakery in Crossville and attended Central Baptist Church. He was well known and respected in the local community. He always listened to people and never left anyone out. He was a very caring and compassionate person, and always put the needs of others before his own. He was able to command anyone's attention and was a natural born leader. He was a man of great pride. He believed in life lessons and always used adversity as a way to teach his kids how to overcome it.
It was the simple things in life that he never took for granted, commenting daily how fortunate and thankful he was. Above all, Larry was absolutely devoted to his wife, kids, and grand kids. He was a father who would always involve himself in every detail of his kids' lives and supported, respected and loved his wife unconditionally. He loved spending time with his grand kids and tried to attend every baseball game, Jiu Jitsu tournament, or beauty pageant. He had a passion for martial arts which was passed down to his son and his grandkids. His favorite holiday was Christmas and he especially enjoyed handing out the gifts. He always enjoyed a warm Krispy Kreme, chocolate milkshake and a juicy hamburger from Five Guys. Some of his favorite pastimes were playing cards, watching movies and sports, listening to gospel, Elvis and the oldies. Traveling and relaxing at the beach were also some of his favorite times. He loved to bowl and play golf. He was a man of strong faith and believed in the strength of Jesus Christ and the peace that awaited him after his passing.
He is survived by his wife, Annie Ebert of Crossville; son, Larry Ebert Jr. and his wife Jessica of Jefferson, GA; daughter, Paula Dugger of Knoxville, TN; brother, David Ebert and his wife Tracey of Mebane, NC; and grandchildren, Brandon Hopper, Jonathan Huckeby and Abigail, Gavin and Preston Ebert.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Carol Hutchins and Barbara Sink.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 15, 2016, at 4 p.m. at Central Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1 to 4 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Private family graveside will be held Saturday in Buford, GA.
