June 21, 1929—July 31, 2015 John Alvin Miller, 86, was born to Joe Wesley and Eliza Jane Miller on June 21, 1929, in Monroe County, TN. He passed away at his home on July 31, 2015, in Crossville. He enjoyed cutting trees, whittling and fishing. John Alvin Miller is survived by his sons, Charlie Ray Miller (Jimmie Sisco) and Paul D. Miller (Brenda Kay); daughters, Margaret Platz (Bob), Norma Stafford (Thomas) and Edith Farmer (Ronald); grandchildren, Lisa Miller, William Jonathan Miller, Zack Miller, Christina Miller, Misty Rupe, Kevin Miller, Bonnie Platz, Tammy Platz, Gary Platz, Kathy Platz and Josh Miller; 40 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Luther and Simon Miller; and sisters, Willie Long and Mabel Miller. In addition to his parents, Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Lee Pace Miller; son, Henry Clay Miller; grandson, Randy Platz; brothers, James, Eli, Oscar, Raymond, Clifford and Norman Miller and Sam Arden; and sister, Mattie Taylor. A service was held Monday, Aug. 3, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Bakers Crossroads Baptist Church officiated by Bro. Leslie Hickey, Bro. Ed Shaver and Bro. Danny Allen. Burial was in Creston Cemetery. Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.
