John Jay Callen, 71, of Crossville, TN, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016, at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville, TN. He was born Nov. 4, 1944, in New York, NY, son of the late Lloyd Callen and Olive (Gibson) Callen. He worked as a long haul truck driver and was of the Baptist Faith. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Terri Callen, Gainesboro, TN; daughters, Lorie Callen, OH, Kim Runyon, OH, Holli Verhovec, OH, Jerrica Sanders, IN, Teara Hatfield, Gainesboro, TN, and Legend Callen, Celina, TN; sons, Christopher Callen, FL, Tanner Callen, Gainesboro, TN, Timmy Callen, Cookeville, TN, and Gary Redic, Lebanon, TN; brothers, Louis Callen, Bill Callen, Larry Callen and Danny Callen; and sisters, Edna McNellis, Bea Thompson, Darlene Jones and Ruth Kovacs. He is also survived by 33 foster children.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his grandson, Dusty Runyon; brother, Harvey Callen; and sister, Dorothy Boofer.
Funeral services will be held at Bilbrey Funeral Home on Friday, June 24, 2016, at 1 p.m. with Bro. Vern Daugherty officiating. Visitation was held Thursday, June 23, 2016, at Bilbrey Funeral Home.
