Jim L. Bohannon, 76, of Spring Hill, FL, passed away May 3, 2016. He was raised in Crossville where he was an Eagle Scout and a 1958 graduate of Cumberland County High School. He earned a B.S. from the University of Tennessee in 1964, where he was a member of the Block and Bridle Club and Phi Gamma Delta fraternity, was named the 1963 Grand Champion Livestock Showman and was one of six members of the livestock judging team that won the 1962 Collegiate National Championship.
Jim established and managed an Angus cattle operation, Bo Farms, in Cookeville, TN. He was also an agriculture teacher at White County High School and Tennessee Tech. He was President of the Tennessee Angus Breeders Association and Putman County Livestock Association; actively involved in the livestock programs of the Putman and White County Fairs; on the executive board of the Tennessee Livestock Association; and a charter member of Tennessee Cattlemen's Association and Tennessee Chi-Angus Association.
Jim later had a 22-year career with Ralston Purina Company as a dairy cattle nutritionist and management specialist covering Middle Tennessee.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Mildred Bohannon. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy Chiarantano Bohannon; daughters, Betsy Bohannon (Martin Bailey) of Knoxville, TN, Jill Davenport (Mark) of Dallas, TX, and Julie Nanney (David) of Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Charly and Bo Nanney; and brothers, Lewis "Bo" Bohannon, Chicago, IL, and Frank and Mike Bohannon, Crossville.
