Jewell Sherrill, 87, of Crossville, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016, at Wyndridge Health & Rehab Center in Crossville.
She was born Feb. 1, 1929, in Crossville, daughter of the late Willie Davenport and Verdie (Humphrey) Davenport. Jewell worked as a custodian in the Ohio school system and was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her sons, Jessie (Jennie) Sherrill, Crossville, and Stevie (Lora) Sherrill, WA; brothers, Tommy Davenport, De Davenport, Glen Davenport, Denton Davenport and J.E. Davenport of Crossville and Lowell Davenport of Murfreesboro, TN; and sisters, Cora Henry, Inez Human and Frances Garrett, all of Crossville. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Jewell was preceded in death by her husband, Litton Sherrill; son, Freddie Sherrill; daughter, Eva Nehring; brothers, Preston Davenport and Eugene Davenport; and sisters, Evelyn Henry, Rachel Brown, Linnis Davenport and Wineva Davenport.
Funeral services were held at Bilbrey Funeral Home on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at 10 a.m. with Bro. Glen Davenport officiating. Interment in Green Acres Memory Gardens.
