Jerry Mitchell Pennington, 68, was born on Sept. 21, 1948, to Mitchell and Bertha Blevins Pennington in Rockwood, TN. He passed away June 14, 2017. He enjoyed witnessing to others and preaching the gospel. In his spare time, he also loved selling fruit and going fishing.
He is survived by his mother, Bertha Blevins Pennington; wife, Joyce Sullivan Pennington; sons, Johnny Pennington (Kristine Lee), Joel Pennington (Lakyn) and Jude Pennington (Nikki); daughters, Faith Woods (Lane) and Frankie Johnson (George); grandchildren, John Bryce Pennington, Audrey Pennington, Joshua Blaine Pennington, Colby Dalton Pennington, Tristan Lane Pennington, Leah McKinley Pennington, Hayden Pennington, Haley Lawson, Braelynn Anna-Marie Hart, Amani Woods, Jesse Johnson, Dan Lee Johnson and George Lynn Johnson; several great grandchildren; brothers, Charles "Doc" Pennington and Curtis Pennington; and sisters, Betty Durisek, Connie Dyer and Edna Freeman.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mitchell Pennington; brothers, Nolan Pennington and Jay Pennington; and sister, Crenn Phillips.
Family received friends on Monday, June 19, 2017, from noon to 2 p.m. at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service for Jerry was also be held on Monday beginning at 2 with David Wilson officiating. Jerry will be laid to rest in Tollett's Chapel Cemetery.
Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.
