Jerry Albert Carney, 73, was born Sept. 12, 1943, in Nashville to the late Albert and Deloro Carney and passed away on Nov. 16, 2016, in the loving presence of his family.
Jerry was raised in Joelton, TN, and was a graduate of Father Ryan High School and University of Tennessee. He was affectionately known as Daddy and Uncle Champ. He was at his happiest working in the yard, being with his pets and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Anita Carney (née Lewis); daughter, Erin Barnett of Crossville; sons, Jeremy (Teresa) Carney of Murfreesboro, and Zachary (Michelle) Carney of Crossville; grandchildren, Evan, Michael, Madilyn and Maria; brother, Nelson Carney (Jane); sisters, Janice (Tony) Martin and Elaine (Sully) Economou; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Stephen Carney.
A funeral mass will be held Friday, Dec. 2, 2016 at 11 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Joelton, TN, with Fr. James Panackal officiating. The family will receive visitors at the church beginning at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.
