Jeffrey's Story

Jeffrey Edwin Wallace went be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017. Jeff was born in Knoxville, TN, on June 6, 1963, to Dr. Joe and Shirley Wallace. Jeff grew up in Crossville surrounded by many friends he continues to love to this day. Jeff went to school in Crossville until his high school years when he attended TMI in Sweetwater, TN. Jeff was Salutatorian of the 1981 class at TMI. He attended Auburn University for his freshman year and completed his bachelor's degree at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. In addition to his bachelor's, Jeff earned a master's degree and EdS from Tennessee Tech. Jeff was a member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. Jeff was an educator in the Cumberland County School System and at Roane State.
Beyond Jeff's accolades and profession, he had a great love for people. Jeff lived out his faith in Jesus Christ through his gentleness of spirit and kind demeanor. Throughout his years of poor health, Jeff never wavered in his faith. He was a Sunday school teacher, lay speaker and served in his beloved Homestead United Methodist Church and throughout the community. One of his great loves was his involvement in the American Cancer Society.
Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Joe K. Wallace Sr.
Jeff is survived by his son, Jacob Kemmer Wallace; his devoted mother Shirley Wallace; his siblings, Rev. Jerry (Jamie) Wallace, Dr. Ken (Nancy) Wallace and Ann (Howard) Lamon. Additionally he is survived by his Aunt Faye (Chuck) Bearden, Aunt Mary Jo (Don) Randolph and Uncle Kenneth (Melinda) Wilson, Aunt Kim (Greg) Clark, Grandmother Faye Wilson and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jeff is survived by his best friend JP Padilla and family, other special friends Dr. Bobby (Cindy) Mooney and the Mooney family, the Debbie Wilson family and the Wednesday Morning Breakfast Club at Cracker Barrel.
Visitation for Jeff will be Friday, Jan. 27, 2017, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bilbrey Funeral Home in Crossville. The celebration of life service will be held at Bilbrey Funeral Home Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017, at 10 a.m. Burial will be at the Green Acres Cemetery.
The active pallbearers will be Tom Bristow, Allen Hill, Joe Mowdy, John Goodwin, David Corwin and JP Padilla. The honorary pallbearers will be Lindell Agee, Charlie Orme, Tommy Pelfrey, Walter Tollett, Bill Matherly, Gene Parsons, Charles Tollett, Bob Morgan, Paul Hodge, Walt Riches, Lloyd Hassler, Greg Agee, Jere Robinson and Dr. Bobby Mooney.
The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Homestead United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or the Crossville Chapter of the American Cancer Society.
