Janice's Story

Janice Carol "Jan" Cashner, 76, passed away early Saturday morning, July 9, 2016, at Hospice of Cumberland County in Crossville after a recent diagnosis of anapestic thyroid cancer.
Born Jan. 10, 1940, in Uniontown, PA, to the late John and Sally Novitsky of N. Olmsted, OH. Jan dedicated her life to her family as a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. Jan is survived by her loving husband, Ron, of 57 years; sister, Patricia (Tom) Kilbane; sons, Bob, David(Chris), John and Jeff (Carrie); grandsons, Patrick, Dan and Stephen; nephew, Tom Kilbane; and nieces, Karen (Ed) Balaschak, Sonya and Shayna Cashner.
Jan and Ron moved to Fairfield Glade in 1996 to start their golden years of retirement filled with golf and bridge. She made friends easily and enjoyed traveling. Some of her favorite trips were Hawaii with her mother and sister; London, Ireland and Scotland with Patricia and Tom; and New York City with Patricia to visit her son David. Most recently, Jan traveled to Italy and Spain with her son Bob. Jan enjoyed playing golf, Mah Jong and was a life master in bridge along with Ron. Jan liked to keep busy with her quilting, crocheting, painting and puzzles. Jan was a faithful member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Fairfield Glade, TN.
A funeral mass will be held in celebration of her life at St. Francis Assisi Catholic Church on Saturday, July 16, 2016, at 10 a.m. with interment on the church grounds. Reception to follow.
